This painting is inspired by the Christmas table we use to have with my Norwegian family, each year. However, we haven’t celebrated Christmas in 2020 because of the Covid-19 situation. By creating this painting, I tried to stay connected to my family and still find a way to celebrate it with them.
We have certain Norwegian traditions we perform and I wanted to add them in the painting, even though most of the people won’t recognize what it is about. That is the beauty of cultural traditions; some culture will recognize them, other don’t. What is then the purpose of performing them ?
